In 1881 his future wife, Lucy Ann Neave was still living with her family in Norfolk, East Anglia

By 1891 Lucy Neave's father had died and Lucy's mother and some of the family had moved to Vulcan Place, Bedlington, Northumberland.

In early 1891 James William Proom was living at No 7 Flags Hartley with his Mother Mary and Brother Samuel.

Not sure when or where they met but James William Proom and Lucy Ann Neave married on August 15th 1891 in Bedlington

Their first Child was John William Proom born 31/5/1892

In 1901 they lived at 8 Sandy Island, Seaton Sluice

They had 8 other children: Robert Henry Proom(1894) _ emigrated in 1920's to South Africa, Alfred Proom (1896, Died in 1916 in France World War 1), Ernest Proom 1897 - (Died 15th September 1897), Neave Proom 1898 - (Died 11th Jan 1900), Minnie Proom (1899) , Annie Hayley Proom (1901), Neave Proom Dec 1903 (Died Sept 1904). Lucy Ann Proom (1905).

Lucy Ann Neave died in May 1939.

Shortly after that the 1939 register was created and James William is listed on there, living at 18 Westend New Hartley.

During WW2 he was the local Firewarden in Seaton Sluice.& Old Hartley

James William Proom died in September 1947.
