Sidonia Greenfield 1862-1921

Sidonia Greenfield was the 8th Child of Daniel Greenfield and Sarah Dilkes. She was born in Brockmoor (Kingswinford) in 1862.

In 1871 she was still in Brockmoor with her parents and four of her older siblings. I have not yet traced the other siblings, but some of them may have died.

By 1881 she had moved to West Bromwich where she was a servant living in with a family on Birmingham Road.

She married Samuel Nicklin (my Paternal Great Grandfather) in 1885 in West Bromwich and they went to live in the Public House at 1 Walsall Street West Bromwich. Between 1885 and 1891 they had four children, Nellie, Annie Alice, Samuel Thomas and on 23/12/1889 My Paternal Grandma, Amelia Ann.

They moved from the 'White Hart' to the 'Lion' in High Street, West Bromwich and also had a house nearby,

Sidonia's husband, Samuel Nicklin, died in 1891 (we believe he fell down the stairs at the pub), leaving her with 4 children. Sidonia the took the job of Landlady at another High Street Pub, the 'Golden Cup' and it is perhaps unsurprising that she soon found a second husband.

She married Albert Cook in 1892 and continued to manage the pub for a while. She had another Child, Florence, in 1893.

In around 1895 they moved to Wolverhampton and by 1903 had 6 more children. Sidonia's second husband died in 1910 and Sidonia herself died in 1921
