West End B.C - Manfield Cup Winners 2007
100 years after winning it for the first time, West End have won the Manfield cup for the 7th Time. Past President Ken Fitzhugh, becomes the only West End Member to be in the team on four of these occasions, his first appearance in the winning team being 1978.
The cash
prizes in our Open Gala on July 22nd 2007 were distributed as
follows:
£200 to Rink skipped by Colin Manton, with John Baggat, Freddy
Fox and Duncan Marriott
£150 to St Crispin Rink of Mick Diggin, Colin Fowkes, Pete
Benson and Nick Byrne,
£100 to Vernon Gearey, Alan Ashby, Sally Gearey and Janet Ashby
and
£50 fourth prize went to Tony Weston, with George Tallett, Bob
Tame and Paul Weston.
We were very pleased to see it was the first sunny day for about
a week and the waterproofs stayed in the changing room!.
The best run in county competitions this year were:- a quarter final appearance in the Singles by Alan Ashby, who also made the quarter final in the Triples with Roger Summers and Martin Walker. Tony Weston and Stuart Letts reached the quarter finals in the Pairs event.
